CLUB promoter Damien Bates reckons his Sheffield side will need to be at their best to beat Redcar at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30).

The Window Centre Tigers have won all of their home fixtures so far, but are gearing up for a thrilling clash against a Bears side who include track specialists Jason Garrity and Richard Hall.

Bates has challenged his riders to pick up where they left off against Peterborough last month but is wary of the threat possessed by the visitors.

“It could be a banana skin but I’m sure the boys will be up for it and they’ll need to be on top of their game,” Bates said.

“Don’t for a minute think we’re getting over-confident because we know how tough the meeting will be.

“The Bears are looking a much stronger side this year and Jason and Richard in particular will be desperate to do well and prove a point on their former track.

“These are the types of meetings that will test our mettle as silverware contenders.”

After being encouraged by attendance levels so far this campaign, the club are expecting another big crowd on Thursday.

Admission is £15 adults, £12 concessions (over 65s), £5 juniors (12-17 inclusive), £1 children (5-12) while kids three and under go FREE and season tickets are valid for the SGB Championship fixture.
