SHEFFIELD star Lasse Bjerre says he has nothing to prove against former club Redcar at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30) – but admits he is desperate to inflict defeat on his ex employers.

The Danish dynamo spent a year and a half with the Middlesbrough outfit before a fall-out with club bosses saw him hand in a transfer request.

But Bjerre is loving life with Sheffield now and has vowed to keep trash-talk to a minimum, stating actions speak louder than words.

“I think people know my feelings about them and the whole situation with everything that went on,” Bjerre said.

“I don’t necessarily have a point to prove because I think my performances are telling everyone what they need to know.

“Riding for Sheffield, a club with a winning mentality who won’t settle for anything less than the best, is turning me into an even better rider than I was.

“I hadn’t really been at a club where that winning mentality had been so high before I came here but it suits me perfectly and brings out the best in me.

“I know they’ve got a few new people behind the promotion now but nothing like that had ever happened at Redcar really. They just settled and you have to feel sorry for people who do that.

“But Sheffield is such a fantastic club to be with and we’re doing good this year.

“I’m just treating this one as though it’s any other meeting. I’ve just got to give it my absolute best and do my job for the team.

“It’s a pretty big meeting because of how close we are in the table together but with how we have been racing at home this season we should be able to get another win.

“We know we’ll have to work hard to get it but we really do have a lot of belief this season.

“The team get on so well and I think we’ve still got a lot more to come yet.”

The Tigers have drafted in Kent racer Nathan Stoneman to guest in place of Jack Parkinson-Blackburn at reserve while ex-Sheffield man Jason Garrity is missing for the visitors and will be replace by Stuart Robson.
