LASSE Bjerre has been told to rest his knee this week and will miss Sheffield’s two meetings.

They face Workington at Owlerton on Thursday before making the trip to Redcar on Friday as they look to consolidate their position at the top of the Championship.

Simon Stead’s side will share Bjerre’s rides around the rest of the team under the rider replacement facility in both meetings.

Tigers co-boss Marc Bates said: “Whilst we are disappointed to lose Lasse he needs to rest to protect his knee from further damage at this stage.

“We’re at an important part of the season and we will need all our riders fit and focussed for the weeks ahead so this is a perfectly sensible decision.

“We won at Edinburgh using rider replacement so there’s no reason why we can’t do it again over two nights – starting at home to Workington on Thursday.”

With the school summer holidays in full flow, the club have arranged a face painter at Owlerton for the children from 6.15 on Thursday and they are urging youngsters to bring their air horns to ramp up the atmosphere.
