SHEFFIELD boss Simon Stead is keen to see his side record what he's describing as 'a couple of significant wins' in Sunday's bumper double-header at Owlerton.

The Window Centre Tigers host both Ipswich (3.30) and Redcar (5.30 approx) over 30 action packed races in what promises to be a thrilling afternoon of speedway.

Sheffield saw their run of 14 straight Championship wins come to an end at Redcar on Friday and Stead has challenged his side to return to winning ways at the first attempt as they aim to top the regular standings.

"To lose our winning streak was disappointing but the lads need to regroup and make sure they're ready for what is going to be a busy Sunday," Stead said.

"Redcar and Ipswich are both having very good seasons and they're both up there in the mix.

"We've already shown what we are capable of against both of them already this season but we could do with getting two more wins on the board on Sunday which would be pretty significant with the play-offs now fast approaching."

The Tigers will once again be without Todd Kurtz through injury whilst Josh Bates is expected to miss the fixtures after sustaining a shoulder problem in a fall at home earlier in the week.

Admission is £20 for all adults, £10 for juniors 10-17, £2 for under 12s with gates opening at 2pm.
