SHEFFIELD No.1 Josh Grajczonek has been ruled out of Saturday’s Championship Play-Off Grand Final decider at Ipswich (7.30).

The Aussie ace aggravated a hip and back problem in Thursday’s 53-37 home leg at Owlerton and won’t be fit for the all-important trip to Foxhall.

But the Sheffield Window Centre Tigers have moved swiftly to secure seven-time British Champion Scott Nicholls as a guest replacement.

After spending a total of ten seasons with the Witches, the Steel City side are hoping the former Grand Prix star can return to haunt his former club.

Tigers team boss Simon Stead is praying that this can finally be their year – but insists his side are nowhere near the finishing line.

“We’re at the half-way stage with a 16-point lead and that’s it,” Stead said.

“The boys produced a real determined performance on Thursday and have put us in a strong position.

“But Ipswich have got a great team and they can be very good around their own track.

“Being without Josh is a blow, of course it is, but we’ve got a great guest in Scott and he’ll bring something extra to the pits behind the scenes as well as out there on the track.

“We know there’s still a long way to go but if we can keep our composure and ride to our capabilities then fingers crossed we can finish the job off.

“I was in the team in 2002 when Sheffield last won the league and it meant an awful lot to everyone connected with the club.

“Hopefully, we can end that 15-year wait this weekend but we’re going to need to be at our very best.”
