SHOWPIECE EVENTS FOR OWLERTON

SHEFFIELD Speedway are gearing up for another series of major meetings.

The newly crowned league champions host the showpiece Championship Pairs event at Owlerton this Sunday – with every club represented (3pm).

In a stunning line-up the event includes former Grand Prix star Chris Harris with Peterborough and Workington ace Craig Cook is included.
Cook could be celebrating qualification for next year’s FIM Speedway Grand Prix series if, as expected Patryk Dudek automatically books his place for 2018 in Poland on Saturday.

Steve Worrall, who enjoyed a stunning display for Great Britain in the World Cup Final in Poland during the summer, represents Newcastle and Ipswich include Owlerton specialists Rory Schlein and Danny King.

Sheffield, meanwhile, have confirmed their duo will be Lasse Bjerre and Kyle Howarth with No.1 man Josh Grajczonek struggling for fitness.

Following Sunday’s meeting, Tigers face the Premiership’s bottom club Leicester back at Owlerton on Monday in the first leg of their promotion / relegation play-off.

Bjerre and Josh Bates will be included in the Tigers side as they look to win promotion back to the top level of the sport. The second leg is at Leicester on Wednesday, October 11.

And in a repeat of last week’s Grand Final, Tigers host Ipswich next Thursday in the Knockout Cup semi-final home leg with the return in Suffolk the following night.
