SHEFFIELD Tigers have won the race to sign talented teenager Jack Smith.

He’s the third name on the team sheet for 2018 and is a familiar face at Owlerton after regular visits as a spectator.

Son of legendary former rider Andy, Smith won the Premiership Knockout Cup with Belle Vue last season.

Tigers co-promoter Damien Bates said: “We are delighted to welcome Jack into the side, it’s a move which is logical in many ways.

“He fits into our team plans, he likes the place and is a regular visitor here.

“I’m sure he can enhance his average as he’s got a good attitude to the sport and he is going places.

“The lad himself is really pleased to be joining Sheffield and we’re really pleased to have him on board.”

Smith himself said: "I've been to Sheffield a fair few times now and I always seem to have fun there.

"The club have got big hopes for next year as well and I can't wait to be a part of it."
